the successful candidate will be responsible for analysing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of network infrastructure and associated application components. The candidate will be expected to perform a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets company and user satisfaction. The individual is also expected to provide direction, information, and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations.
Design, deploy and manage LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, hubs, switches, Firewalls, and other hardware while adhering to design standards from the global network team
Role Summary
Principal Accountabilities:
Configure a reliable network that is in line with service level agreements
Maximise network availability and performance through monitoring, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with global network architects on network optimization
Develop and implement policies and procedures, for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery
Secure network system by establishing and enforcing global access control policies
Support resolution and root cause analysis of all network incidents and problems. This includes network services provided through 3rd party vendors. (e.g Internet)
Participate in regular network health check and ensure all network devices are patched to appropriate operating system levels.
Upgrade and replace network hardware in advance of end of life
Support DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, Intruder Prevention systems and Proxy devices in line with company‘s IT security policy
Configuration and management of company’s VOIP solution
Work with project management team to understand project plans and scope for assigned role on engagement .
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of Position:
Managing Network related Incident’s to defined SLA’s for all internal and external networks.
Ensuring Network Uptime and performance meet SLA requirements
Management of 3rd parties that provide network services to the company
Essential Experience, Skills and Competencies:
Professional certifications CCNP or equivalent
BS degree in Computer Science, telecommunications, or related technical field
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities
Self-reliant and motivated
Flexibility and commitment to work outside normal working hours, when required
Customer focused
Calm and composed under pressure
Technical Competencies
In-depth experience in corporate LAN/WAN technologies & topologies, including, but not limited to, the following: -
Experience with Cisco, Juniper and Palo-Alto networking technologies
Demonstrated knowledge and experience designing and implementing layer 3 routing protocols (static, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)
Demonstrated knowledge and experience designing and implementing layer 2 protocols (802.1q, Spanning Tree, GRE tunnels)
Demonstrated knowledge and experience designing and implementing load balancing and high availability protocols (HSRP, VRRP, LACP)
Knowledge and understanding of network services DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, IPS and Proxy Servers
Experience with management of vendors and professional services
Experience with network management via SNMP and packet capture tools
Experience working with service providers to resolve carriage faults
Knowledge of network performance metrics
Demonstrated knowledge of Quality of Service
Demonstrated knowledge of MPLS, VPLS configurations
Demonstrated knowledge of protocol redistribution
Knowledge of network management products
Cisco VoIP Systems – Management/Support/Troubleshooting
Experience with cable management and physical connectivity
Understanding of ITIL Framework
Other Comments: The successful candidate will be part of a team that will provide network support from 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday and flexibility on start time will be required
